Stephen Hankins ( 1805-1870). Steven Hankins was a planter and landowner in the Union Chapel area of Lamar County, Alabama. He had seven sons, John Franklin, Isom Green, Joel Smith, David Crockett, Thomas Benton, Samuel Houston and William Burton Hankins and 4 sons-in-law, Leroy Hampton Smith, Davis Pitts, John Barnes and Madison Oaks, who served in the Confederate Army. Samuel Houston and Thomas Benton Hankins were twins.
