Lake Tuscaloosa – 2/17/01

 

            The Fayette Bass Club held its first tournament of the 2001 season on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at Lake Tuscaloosa. Thirty-eight boats participated in the event despite a devastating storm system that moved through Friday afternoon dropping temperatures into the low 30’s, a large number of fish were caught.

            Taking First place was Danny Blackburn and Rusty Henry with 10 fish weighing 15 lbs 14 oz. Danny and Rusty caught most of their fish on crank baits and jigs. Ed and Jason Walker, a father\son team who will always do well on Lake Tuscaloosa, came in Second place. They weighed 10 fish at 14 lbs 14 oz. Ed and Jason used worms to catch their fish. Durwood Stough and Wayne Nichols took Third place with 10 fish weighing 14 lbs 13 oz. Durwood and Wayne caught their fish on Carolina rigs and spinner baits.    

            Kevin Trimm had the big fish of the day weighing 5 lbs 14 oz and also had big stringer with four fish weighing 10 lbs 10 oz. Kevin caught all his fish on jigs.

            The Fayette Bass Club’s next tournament will be held March 17, 2001 at Pickensville leaving out of Marina Cove.
