Warrior River, Franklin Ferry – 7/21/01

On July 21st, 38 boats from the Fayette Bass Club traveled to Bankhead Lake on the Warrior River for their sixth tournament of the season. Once again, the anglers were challenged by changing weather conditions which seems to have become a common occurrence for this tournament season. A cold front pushed through the evening before with heavy rains and cooler temperatures forcing the fishermen to abandon their pre-tournament patterns. Nevertheless, adjustments were made end 169 bass were brought to the scales totaling 231 lbs 8 oz.

Don May of Winfield and Ricky Ary of Fayette used crank baits, jigs, and worms to take home the First place honors. Their limit of fish tipped the scales at 15 lbs 3 oz.

            Hot on their heels were

Phillip and Gary Cannon of Fayette with a 10 fish limit weighing 15 lbs even. The Cannon brothers flipped texas-rigged lizards to boat their fish for Second place. Gary also brought the big stringer to the scales with 5 fish weighing 9 lbs 8 oz.

Only one ounce behind, for Third place, was Keith Adcox and Lance Lollar of Northport. They used buzz baits and rattle traps to land 10 fish weighing 14 lbs 15 oz.

Catching the biggest bass of the tournament was Bill Campbell of Gordo with a lunker weighing 3 lbs 9 oz.

Next month the Club will Travel south to Demopolis blasting off from the City Landing.

Everyone remember that the Club meeting is still on the first Monday of every month at Danny Blackburn’s Prop Shop!
